Health & Safety

The health and safety of parents, children, and staff is our top priority. We are committed to providing a secure environment where everyone is protected. To achieve this, we have implemented a comprehensive range of policies and procedures designed to safeguard the well-being of all children in our care.

Our health and safety protocols are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure they meet the highest standards. We have strict procedures in place for preventing illness and accidents, including proper hygiene practices, emergency response plans, and safety drills. All staff members are thoroughly trained in child safety, first aid, and how to respond to any health-related concerns.

Illness Policy

Our illness policy is designed to protect the health and well-being of all children, staff, and families. If a child exhibits symptoms of illness, such as a fever of 100.4 or higher, vomiting, or a contagious condition, they must remain at home until they are symptom-free or cleared by a healthcare provider. In the event a child becomes ill while at the facility, parents will be promptly notified to arrange for pick-up.

Hygiene/Hand Washing

Handwashing is a key part of our health and safety routine. We ensure that children wash their hands frequently throughout the day to promote good hygiene and prevent the spread of germs. Children wash their hands upon arrival, before meals, after outdoor play, after sensory play, after diapering or toileting, and after sneezing or wiping their noses. This regular handwashing practice is supported by our staff, who model and assist children as needed, helping them develop good hygiene habits early on.

Cleaning & Disinfecting

To maintain a clean and safe environment, all toys, materials, and frequently touched surfaces are sanitized daily. Our dedicated afternoon staff stay after hours to ensure that every item is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, providing a hygienic space for the children the following day. This extra step helps minimize the risk of germs and ensures the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.

Immunizations

Immunization records or exemption forms are required upon enrollment to ensure the health and safety of all children in our care. Kids Choice accepts all immunization exemptions and can provide the necessary form for parents to complete.

Weather & Outdoor Play Policy

We follow a strict weather policy to ensure the safety and comfort of all children during outdoor activities. The policy outlines appropriate temperature ranges for outdoor play, specifies what children of each age group should wear for clothing based on the weather, and determines if sunscreen is necessary. Additionally, we monitor the air quality index to ensure it is safe for outdoor play.

Sight & Sound At All Times

To ensure their well-being, we require teachers to be within sight and sound of all children at all times. This practice allows our staff to respond quickly to any needs or concerns and ensures that children are always monitored in a safe, supportive environment. Our teachers are trained to maintain constant awareness of their surroundings, providing the highest level of care and supervision throughout the day.

Ouch Reports

We provide parents with "ouch reports" whenever a child is hurt while in our care. These reports detail the nature of the injury, how it occurred, and any actions taken to care for the child. This ensures that parents are promptly informed and involved in their child’s well-being, allowing for clear communication and peace of mind.

Secure Building & Authorized Pickup

Our building is securely locked at all times and can only be accessed by parents and authorized individuals using a unique code provided upon enrollment. Additionally, we have a secure check-in and check-out system that requires fingerprint authentication to ensure that only authorized people can pick up their children. These measures provide an added layer of security and ensure that children are always in the care of trusted individuals.
